This event was held on 21 June in the beautiful Kunstmuseum in The Hague, home to the largest collection of paintings by Piet Mondriaan in the world. Topics included the business opportunities in the Creative Industries Hong Kong and China's Greater Bay Area.
The Delta of the Pearl River is quickly transforming into a key creative industries hub. The ongoing development of the area is offering new chances for architects. Product and fashion designers and many more creative specialisations are also in demand.
At the same time, the GBA remains a crucial location for the production of consumer goods that are shipped all around the world.
This free event was organised on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative region of the People's Republic of China and was offered by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Brussels, Invest Hong Kong and the Netherlands Hong Kong Business Association.
The Seminar, attended by 80 persons, had two sessions.
- Developments and Opportunities in China's Greater Bay Area
- The Business of Art & Design in Hong Kong and the GBA
The seminar was followed by a networking reception and dinner, The dinner was attended by 120 guests.

Consul General at Consulate General of the NetherlandsMr Arjen van den Berg was born in Surinam in 1966. In 1989 he graduated, with distinction, as a Master in Law from the University of Leiden.
At the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy of the Tufts University in Boston, USA, he followed the Global Master of Arts Program and achieved his Master’s degree in International Relations in 2004.
In 1991, Mr Van den Berg became a trainee in the Foreign Service Training Course of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague, Netherlands. Between 1992 and 2008 he had various assignments in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs including stints at the Legal Department of the Security Policy Department, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Washington DC (Press and Cultural Department) and as Head of Mission in Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago.
From 2008 – 2021 he served as Counsellor, Head of Political Development at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Beijing, People’s Republic of China.
From 2012-2015, Mr Van den Berg was Minister Plenipotentiary, Head of Political Development, at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tokyo, Japan.
From 2015 tot 2020, he was Deputy Director, Leader Team 1 (a.o. China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam) at the Asia and Oceania Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Hague, The Netherlands.
Since 2020, Mr Van den Berg serves as Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Hong Kong and Macao.

Representative at Shenzhen European Office, BrusselsMrs. MAO Xi is the representative of Shenzhen European Office, based in Brussels. Her main tasks are to facilitate foreign direct investment to Shenzhen, the promotion of exports to Europe, as well as enabling bilateral trade between both sides. She is also in charge of the European divisions of the annual Shenzhen Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. She previously lectured at universities, contributed to international media as a radio presenter and feature writer.

Established in 2000, Shenzhen’s European Office is a business service provider representing the city of Shenzhen, China´s first Special Economic Zone. Five offices in Belgium, France Germany, Switzerland, and the UK, provide free consultation and matchmaking services to European and Shenzhen companies, including market analysis on trade and investment opportunities in Shenzhen's core and emerging industries, business development consulting and matching of key development opportunities between Shenzhen and Europe.
