Silas Chu is the Regional Director, Europe, Central Asia & Israel of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the organisation that promotes and develops the city's external trade. Mr. Chu supervises the HKTDC’s 13 offices in Europe, Central Asia and Israel (Almaty, Barcelona, Budapest, Frankfurt, Istanbul, London, Milan, Moscow, Paris, Prague, Tel Aviv, Stockholm and Warsaw). Mr. Chu joined HKTDC in 1997, and has extensive overseas market experience. Prior to his current appointment he was the Director of Japan, overseeing the Tokyo and Osaka offices from 2017 to 2021. He headed the Taiwan office from 2012 to 2017, and worked in HKTDC’s Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou offices. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Mr. Chu graduated from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology with a Bachelor’s degree (first class) and a Master’s in Business Administration.
